Georgia releases occur through the state prison system, county jails, and separate federal or immigration systems. Start with the authority that last held or supervised the person. For a state prisoner, use the official GDC offender search. Questions or requests for GDC records belong with the GDC Open Records Unit, which accepts statewide requests under the Georgia Open Records Act. Local jail records remain with the county sheriff or jail custodian, not GDC.
